My family and I live in Saratoga, California and have known Greg and his family for several years, in fact as far back as the 1970's when Greg's wife and my wife were classmates in elementary school.
Greg and his family have been prominent members of our community and schools, and have made many donations of their time, money, and service which have helped in numerous ways, from the funding of school building projects such as the Saratoga High School Performing Arts Center to the commitment of their personal time to many causes.
Professionally I have known Greg as a fellow member of a Board of Directors, and as a fellow executive in the building of Brocade while I also was building Juniper Networks here in Silicon Valley. Greg has been a friend, and an advisor in the many challenging responsibilities of being the CEO of a young and growing company. I have seen his passion for the people who work for him, and his commitment to doing the very best he could to build an outstanding company. I can also personally attest to the burdens of responsibility that come with the office of CEO, and the many demands of others that must be dealt with in a fair and honest way if the company is to succeed. Greg and I have talked about this often, and I have seen him exhibit the utmost respect for his people, his purpose, and the values he believes in, and his standards and his character have been impeccable.
Although I am not at liberty to provide details, I also know of Greg's commitment to this country, and the trust which has been placed in him as an American in service of our country and its defense, as I provided some insights when his confidence and trust were being confirmed by our government.
As perhaps you also know, the Reyes family has been prominent and active members of the Silicon Valley and the high technology community for generations, and have been duly proud of Greg and what he has accomplished. This makes the burdens of the recent proceedings and the implications for Greg and his family even more difficult. The toll it is taking on an outstanding person and his family has been immeasurable, and the pain, even before further consequences are imposed, is unimaginable to those of us who have known him for who he is for so many years.
It is with all these perspectives, and the many ways I have seen Greg help and support so many others that I am writing to ask for your compassion in your upcoming decisions regarding Greg and his family. It seems there is little more harm to be felt beyond the price that has already been paid by Greg, his wife, and his children, in light of all that has happened and the implications of these proceedings.
Nothing can be done to unleash the burden Greg has endured over the last years, and the price that he has already paid in his life. Please consider the fine person that Greg is and will always be in your upcoming deliberations.
Thank you for your consideration.

TPG manages more than S30B in capital and our largest investors include CalPERS and CalSTERS. Like Greg Reyes, 1 am 44 years old, am married and have four great children. I have known Greg and his family personally and professionally for more than ten years. I have closely observed Greg in various social, business and family settings. He has always conducted himself with the highest of integrity, never being afraid to speak the truth or do the right thing for a person or group.
I was the Co-Head of Technology Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley when Brocade went public in 1999 and I had the good fortune to witness Greg Reyes' leadership skills. During my career I also had the opportunity to observe hundreds of CEOs in every type of situation and 1 can honestly say that Greg was one of the best. Greg cared deeply about Brocade employees and shareholders and worked very diligently to create value for each of these constituencies. He successfully created billions of dollars of shareholder value during his tenure as CEO by building a world class organization with world class customers. During a time when greed defined many Silicon Valley CEOs, Greg never personally received any of the options in question in this case. When times got tough at Brocade, Greg made the decision to stay on as CEO and work hard for the employees and shareholders when he could have retired quite comfortably.
I was able to personally attend part of the trial and I also read everything I could about the proceedings, I do not agree with the jury's decision but I am a believer in the US justice system. During the trial not one customer, employee or shareholder testified that Greg committed criminal acts because none of these groups were victims. The real victims in my opinion will be Greg's wife and children if you do not show compassion and leniency. Please try to consider all of this when deciding his sentence.

Realtime Court Status - Gregory Reyes Trial
I am a founding partner in a venture capital investment firm. I have been involved in the financing of and assistance to young technology companies for the past 25 years. These companies include Adaptec, Compaq, Microsoft, Seagate Technology, and Sun Microsystems. Presently I am serving on the boards of Microsoft and Seagate, and several privately held companies.
I met Greg over 12 years ago, when one the companies, on whose board I served, recruited him for an executive position there. Although he did not accept that position, I have stayed in touch with Greg over the years. I've had the opportunity to know Greg both personally and, by reputation, professionally.
Personally, I know Greg to be dedicated and honorable. We spent a summer together in Nantucket in the mid 1990's. His devotion to his family is very apparent. Gregory and Rebecca, Greg's two children, are 14 and 10, similar in age to my two youngest. Greg is a real hands-on dad, and they are extremely close to him. He and his wife Penny, have had the added challenge of dealing with their son's special needs in recent years, and Greg is instrumental in his daily care.
I am sincerely interested in Greg's circumstances, completely convinced of his morals and his integrity as a businessman, and quite concerned about the well-being of his family should he be taken from them.
Thank you for your consideration of my views regarding this matter.
